Course Description

Designed and built by Seve Ballesteros, the Oliva Nova Golf Club course is a par 72 links course of 6,350 m with a slope of 120, the main characteristic of which is that 15 of its 18 holes include water obstacles. The only holes that have no water obstacles are numbers 2, 13 and 14.

A technical course, with a gentle undulating terrain, easy to walk on, formed by the traditional four pars 3, four pars 5 and ten pars 4 formula where the shots are rewarded and the bad ones are punished, in Severiano’s own words:

“This course offers great possibilities to all golfers, as it has short, medium and long holes, and fairways with left and right doglegs. I think it poses a challenge to any golfer.” The amen corner of the course is at the 13th, 14th and 15th holes, where strategy and the wind are determining factors.

Very good course, nice design, quite varied,with water challenging on most holes. Good condition overall, with excellent greens, correct fairways but too hign (almost like a semi rough..). Very walkable, good speed of play. I think the price is a bit high however : should be around 60 in comparison with many other courses I have played.

Course is oustanding, really beautiful and nice to walk (even in 33 degrees heat). Although, they are not well organized – despite the heat there is no cart that goes around with refreshments, no access to say a quick lunch or a fast bite to eat at the turn, organization for pickup from the hotel, storing of clubs, etc, – it is like pulling teeth to get info. The people are nice, the grounds are great, but overall (including a below average driving range and practice area) I would rate the club overall as only good (not very expensive so to play, there is value for money if you stay at the hotel).

The design is well thought out. The greens are well defended and the approach requires space knowledge and precise game. Many greens are nice but ondulliert never unfair. Overall, a successful course architecture with a variety of different obstacles and challenges. The fairways are good together – a longer walk is necessary only at the beginning and in the second third of the first nine.
The beautiful clubhouse with its buffet had something Speisesaalathmosphäre with chairs and the patio was only sparingly and highly reserved. Nevertheless, we got a place for a cold beer.
The staff was very friendly and showed strongly to green fee players interested.
